Shilajit collection areas in Nepal

Prime Agro is one of the leading processors of shilajit from Nepal. We have a wide network of collectors of shilajit in major collection areas in North-East and North-West localities of Nepal, where most of the shilajit is collected.

Shilajit is most commonly found in the high-altitude regions of the following districts:
  1. Dolpa: Located in the western part, Dolpa is known for its rugged mountainous terrain and is one of the primary sources of high-quality Shilajit.
  2. Jumla: This district, also in the western region, is another significant source, with Shilajit deposits naturally forming in the high Himalayan slopes.
  3. Humla: Situated in the northwest, Humla is a remote district where Shilajit is collected from the high-altitude rock formations.
  4. Mugu: Known for its natural beauty and mountainous landscapes, Mugu also has Shilajit deposits in its rugged, high-altitude areas.
  5. Bajhang: This district features high-altitude areas with rocky terrains, making it suitable for Shilajit deposits.
  6. Bajura: Located in the far-western region, Bajura’s mountainous landscapes also host natural Shilajit formations.

These districts, located in the Himalayan and trans-Himalayan regions, provide the ideal environment for the natural formation of Shilajit, thanks to the unique geological conditions and altitude.

In East Nepal, Shilajit is less commonly found compared to the western and central Himalayan regions. However, some high-altitude districts in the eastern part do have natural deposits of Shilajit, though not as extensively as in the west. These districts include:

  1. Taplejung: Located in the eastern Himalayas, Taplejung has high-altitude areas near the Kanchenjunga mountain range where Shilajit can be found naturally.
  2. Sankhuwasabha: This district, home to Mount Makalu, has rugged and high-altitude terrains where Shilajit is occasionally collected.

These eastern districts have suitable conditions for the natural formation of Shilajit due to their mountainous landscapes and high elevations, but the availability is generally more limited compared to districts in the western part like Dolpa and Jumla.
